Craigslist:Hutch and Bookcase-Citrus heights

8 Sep

120 takes this set. I love glass and then wood combo. Right now me and my man friend are working on wall shelfs with a box unit thing and sliding glass. He seems to think this is very difficult. Luckily I have been picking up a bunch of sunset books from thee old days that show you a bunch of DIY shelving. So we are not in the dark completely. Eventually I would like to share some of sunset’s old idea’s here. My advice though is to pick up some of these for yourself when you’re at the thrift store. They not only show you how to do great shelving, they give you great pictures to look up for inspiration (kinda like the ones Serene has been graciously sharing with you all).

Kitchen Shelving Inspiration

8 Sep

I was recently at the beach combing flickr for photos. What else do you do at a crowded beach? Anyway, I came across this photo, again from the 1950’s Armstrong collection. I love these shelves and everything about this image so much that I set the image as my wallpaper. Now whenever I look at my phone get all stoked and inspired all over again. Even that colorized salad looks good, c’mon.

Craigslist-Desk:Sacramento

I am guilty of obsessing over storage. When there’s a drawer here, a drawer there I go crazy. My husband happened to be passing by whilst I was looking at this and simply said ‘That thing can hold a lotta crap’. It does look like it could do so. This desk is being sold for 50$ in Sacramento.

Reupholstery Dilemma: Eames Repro Footstool

8 Sep

I got this junked up footstool from my sister in San Francisco who used to have a chair to go with it but it was eaten by tiny dogs and ripped apart. I’m going to be reupholstering it but still haven’t decided on whether to cover it with durable fabric for nasty feet to be resting on, or nice decorative fabric where only butts go – as we are in desperate need of more seating.

Ikea has a lot of great fabric that I’ve been casually perusing and considering as a covering, but again I just don’t want people assuming they can put their old “barking dogs” on this sucker since it was originally intended for such a thing. This is a very real concern, I have a friend that comes over and loves putting his feet on our stuff. He removes his shoes, rubs his feet for awhile, removes the sock, then places the feet on our coffee table. ..Maybe I should just cover it with something durable and plain, it’ll attract feet to it instead of my coffee table. Oh well check out these tasty textiles anyway!
