Two Accordions

3 Jan

Thanks to Erin and Stefan for giving us a heads up on Two Accordions. We met with Joe and Ruth last week and I was amazed at the passion they have for quilting. It was really inspiring to meet people who love what they do and want to share it with others.

If you have driven by University Art on J street (in Sacramento) lately, you’ve probably seen the quilts and xmas stockings that Two Accordions produced. By looking at their work, it is obvious that they are talented but it was really great to find out what inspired them to begin their quilting career.

Quilting had been in Joe’s family for several generations and Ruth’s family was generally crafty. They decided to give it a try after Joe’s mother purchased a commercial quilting machine, with the idea of repairing a beloved quilt given to Joe by his grandmother. They began their business six months ago, and since have had two showings of their quilts. Gee’s Bend and Amish Design  are two styles of quilting that Two Accordions draw inspiration from. They combine those styles with their love of modern design to create their own fresh take on quilting.

Please add this great new business on Facebook, check out their website and stop by University Art to see their fantastic work.
