Craigslist: DUX DIN DIN set- Monterey

2 Feb

I am teh confused…here is the poster’s comments on this item:

“Mid century Dux teak dining table, expandable from 4 to 6 seat dining with coordinating chairs. 1960’s vintage, fully opened it is in good condition and appearance, but the table, when in its smaller dimension for 4 persons, has a moisture stain and with associated rippling that mars the surface appearance.

6 Hibritin made chairs which coordinate with the table are cushioned and in good condition with some markings although the cane lattice work is showing some decline. Two have arm rests, the remaining four are armless.

asking/or best offer
$200 -table
$66 -6 chair set (2 with arm rest and 4 without)
$240 -table and chairs as a set.”

Not sure what is confusing you but if it is about the table looking nice when fully opened but has a water stain when in its seating for four persons-that confuses me. Perhaps its a table that folds up? Those chairs really don’t look like they match the table but I’ve never seen such a set like this before. And I’m sure the seller knows their own set!

    I am always teh confused.
I think the whole listing price thing sent my mind in shambles. I didn’t want to word it wrong so I just copied and pasted the whole thing.
I think the seller is stating though what you are saying, chairs not going with the table. Which is kinda a bummer but not because the chairs look decent with the table.
Hopefully the water stain is fixable. That table looks like it has potential.

Discount for the whole set table?

If there is “associated rippling” where the water stain is, it makes me think that it is a wood laminated top and so it would not be easily fixable.

Now, the chairs do look nice and I see the word “coordinated” which is a clue that they did not come with the table. $11 dollars per chair is a very good bargain! I suspect the seat fabric is not original but the original may be underneath. One could take a chance and remove the material off of one of the chairs to see what is undr there-at least, that is what I would do. Thing is, it may be the awful colonial print {gag}that was so popular in the late ’60’s. But it could be vinyl, too (a material like pleather).

    Love your Kitteh! >^.^<

I think the whole table would (should) need to be refinished, which isn’t so bad considering that most tables of that age need to be refinished and at least this one has potential and isn’t too costly.
