The Acapulco chair is pretty much a mystery. Nobody knows who the designer is, there are several different stories out there on how it got to America, and there seems to be different opinions floatin’ around over who’s in charge in pushing these guys out.

The only thing people can agree on is how magnificent it looks, that it was made sometime during the 50’s in Acapulco, and that it is made using ancient Mayan weaving techniques.

I’m particularly fond of the multi colored ones! The colors, the mix of Mexican culture, annnnnd a flare of midcentury is a perfect combination to make me gaga. It’s like someone picked my brain and came up with the perfect chair for me. Then there is this

I perused their website but, to my dismay, could not find a price catalog. Any idea on the price estimates and variations?

    They sell them here.

    and here. Made in Brooklyn.
Prices range from 380-480. Little chair is 48.00!
The only thing is that those two above…I’am not too sure about their authenticity. I am waiting for a response from Ocho, to see where people in northern Cali can buy their product. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out.

    Hey Bonnie,
I just got a reply back from Ocho, http://www.ochoworkshop.com/#!price those are the prices for the chair. Only it seems like these are the prices for a seller as you have to make a minmum order of 15 chairs at 110 each. There are not any US shops selling their product yet. I am sure though with all the internet buzz that that will change soon :D

Darn! I knew it was too good to be true :) I agree, however- we might see these pop up for retail sale soon. Thx for update!
