Glimpses of the past on Retronaut

4 Jan

I just found the website Retronaut, and it feeds into one of my favorite hobbies: Getting lost in mid-century aesthetics, life, and livin’. They have photo collections organized by decade (0-1800 to 2010s) that feature ads, photographs, personal snapshots, and movie/theater stills of the era. It really gives you a full experience to see these photo collections side by side. There goes my afternoon.

Kitchens of 1950

American restaurants, cafes and diners, 1950s and 1960s

High School Fashions, 1969

Bell Labs, 1960s

You need to check out http://www.likeks.com. Been a fan for many moons. You can thank me later. (Definitely investigate the section “Institute of Official Cheer.”)

HA… Forgot you probably wouldn’t like that one. On the other hand, we own the Gallery of Regrettable Food book, and nearly pissed ourselves reading it aloud.
