Craigslist: Is that blue?

24 Oct

Leaves and leaves and leaves OH MY.
So I can’t really tell if this formica top is blue – or just reflecting off the aluminum door. But, I’m going to venture to say it is goddamned blue and incredible. Just know now, that the seller is asking $850 for the set. Here’s what they have to say:

My Parents received this custom designed dining table set as a wedding gift in 1961 to match their contemporary Danish furnishings. The set was designed by Paul McCobb of the Planner Group for the Winchendon Furniture Company in Winchendon Massachusetts. This is a perfect table for a small to medium size eat in kitchen or dining room. The Formica top is very durable and easy to clean and doesn’t scratch or stain like a wood top. The chairs are also solid wood with no cloth covering to stain or match to your decor.

The table is 100% original with its original Formica top and solid walnut base and legs that have been never been refinished, but are in very good to excellent condition. It has two leaves to take it from a round 4 seat table to oval 6 and oval 8 seat tables. The table legs are removable for transportation.

The four (4) chairs are also 100% original, have not been refinished, and are in very good to excellent condition. They are solid wood with metal on the bottom to protect the wood legs from wear. (Original Post)

Sale Away: Estate Sales

13 Oct

If you haven’t done so already, sign up for every estate sale e-mailing list. Gary Schiff’s sales are definitely my favorite, but Jennie Krausse has some pretty awesome stuff, too. Being on the e-mailing list gives you a heads up about upcoming sales, along with photos of the items being sold, and occasionally entry access to pre-sales.

This sale is being held on Friday and Saturday and I just can’t wait. Even if I can’t afford anything, it will still be fun to oogle those goodies!

This is the info for sale:

1441 Birchwood
Sacramento, 95822

October 15th & 16th
Friday & Saturday
9 am 3 pm ( try to get there early though, because sales like this usually have long lines)

Craigslist: Wassap, ‘Frisco

12 Oct

Okay first off I am offended by the use of “frisco.” No one else is allowed to use it, I just used it ironically so it’s okay. MOVING ON!

San Francisco is always an amazing place to look up Midcentury goodies – there’s more design obsessed weirdos per capita perhaps? Not saying y’all Northerners aren’t that fantastic brand of weirdo yourselves. That’s a compliment.

Alright, this is nuts. Going for $400.00. Imagine this in your living room, gah! (Original Post)

Same seller, different story. $450.00 for this floating desk checkit!! (Original Post)

$1300, o rly? (Original Post)Described by the seller as “groovy” and something about super powers. $30! (Original Post)

Craigslist: Matching Dux Chairs $150.00

23 Sep

Y’all know how I feel about.. (shudder) woven fibers. But I do love the Dux brand and these swooping sculpted backrests! Huzzah! (Original Post)

This is a circa 1950’s Mid Century Modern Design sectional “Seating Unit” or sofa. It may have been made by Vista or at least it is in the Vista style of mid 1950’s iron furniture…or it could have been made as custom item for a commercial space It is vintage and out of an estate storage. It is very architectural and would be great in an Eames environment or Eichler or Streng home. Ready for refurbishing or re-upholstery to your taste. It’s big as each of the 3 sections is about 4 feet long. It’s upholstered in it’s original 60 year old vinyl now and the seats have been colored.. A nice fun item for a vintage environment!

So.. hey. How’s it going. I don’t even know what to say about this thing. If you got it, flaunt it? I guess? “It” in this scenario being “space in your apartment” and “275 smackaroonies.”

Craigslist: Have a seat dear.

19 Sep

Sweet orange office chair is being sold for 10 bucks and those promising blue occasional chairs are at 25 apiece. I really like the idea of having an “occasional chair.” It gets me mind to wandering to old movies with strict over 40 couples who pour themselves a drink. The lady would say something like ‘oh Charles-‘ and Charles would promptly respond ‘Its an occasion!’ I do hope this mind traveling doesn’t cause me to do anything rash like jumping on pretty dainty Danish chairs and that it just reasons me believing fully that occasional chairs are something that I do indeed need. These chairs are in West Sacramento.

Craigslist-Kitchen table:Citrus Heights

5 Sep

The prowl is still on. I search and I search and everything seems way too big to fit in my “cozy” space. Then I share these eye pleasing misfortunes with you kind folk-I mean that in a ‘this uplifts my spirits’ kinda way not a ‘I feed you my furniture scraps.’ It looks like there’s some plastic stuff covering the seats of these chairs. Those are great in case you happen to have an accident or two occasionally but can be uncomfortable in Sacramento’s summertime (ya know that weird sticky thing that happens were the plastic becomes apart of your leg). For 60 bucks you could take that stuff off if it makes you queasy and then (ahhhhaaahhhaaa<—that’s the sound of heaven’s gates being opened) reupholster.

Around Town: Trolling the 57th Street Antique Mall

5 Sep

Decided to go on a bike ride and stop being such a slob, but of course needed to set a good destination to get excited about riding to. THE ANTIQUE MALL OF COURSE! Where I will maul antiques with my eyes!

Wee away we go! Thank bejeebus Sacramento is so sunny and warm that we can still be riding around in shorts and skirts. Unlike San Francisco where I used to live – where it’d  be foggy and bummer-inducing. Yeah. I said it.

Also to note – Most everything is 20% OFF the listed price or more at the 57th street antique mall. KEWL PRICES, SWELTERING DEALZ AND STEALZ.

LET’S GET IT PERCOLATIN’. $12.00 for this stout man.

Alan inspecting the hardware. The base is a nice walnutty wood, which is repeated in the top of the lamp in a long wooden neck – which is being covered by a big ugly shade which has got to hit the wicky road. $45.00.

I guess this picture is blurry because I was excited. $340.00 for this drop-leaf table and chair set.
