Rose and Ben’s Christmas Decor.

24 Dec

Here is me and Ben’s attempt at an Alexander Girard inspired christmas tree. After much stalling and frustratin’ myself over the right kinda paper, and the colors, buh, I decided that it isn’t exactly what I would have liked it to look like…but maybe next year we will refine! That’s a great thing about Christmas…it comes again next year. So I have come to comfort myself in saying that each year is another opportunity to make it better. That’s pretty optimistic right? YUP. YUP. That’s what I am trying to be about dear Mimomito. We shall see how long that lasts.

“My goal is to collect as many images as I can find that define the best of middle-class American home style from 1900 to 1963. On one hand, I love the small, the cozy, the kitsch. I’m a sucker for cute kids, puppy dogs, and cool gadgets. And some images are so beautiful they are transcendent.

I adore mid-century modern and the great designers like Aalto and the Eames, even though I’m kind of a packrat and doubt I’ll ever be able to live so spartanly. I would love to have my own Grasshopper or Womb chair.”  — via American Vintage Home on Flickr

This flickr is set up wonderfully and meticulously. Different sets for Linoleum, Interiors, Exteriors, Wallpaper & Textiles, and my favorite – Manufacturers. Heck yesss, learn your designers!

Living Room Inspiration

We can’t have a stone slab fireplace, ceiling to floor windows or 20′ tall ceilings but we’ll try and shove this style right into our teeny two-bedroom apartment above a chinese acupuncturist. Living the dream, I know.

This image is from a photo set on flickr of “Interiors from Armstrong.” It simply says “1950s living room with Calder-like mobile.” So that is to say – the mobile looks like a mobile made by the guy who invented mobiles.

Kagan coffee table – keep an eye out on craigslist! This style is always popping up for under $300.00. $10.00 Ikea vase, Calder mobile, and $480.00 grey tapered-leg repro couch from Urban Outfitters. Get it, girl.
