On the internetz: Ruh roh! Urban Outfitters is on the case.

2 Oct

Occasionally I’ll cruise over to UrbanOutfitters.com and peruse some of their deliciously designed and midcentury modern inspired furniture, that I’m sure, will fall apart – go floppy – break down – just, will not hold up like the originals. Sigh. But still, I look. The rocking chair makes my heart skip a beat.. but then I know in 2 years it will probably crap out like a florgenborgenjorgen from Ikea. And that, dear readers, is why we love the old stuff, am I right?

Anyhow, I checked out UO to take a gander at the apartment wares, and by god! Looks like they’re onto me! Check it out, maybe buy a lamp, or something you don’t invest too much money/your love into. :( Ughh and the color options. If you own anything from UO, I’d love to know how it has held up!

Living Room Inspiration

6 Sep

We can’t have a stone slab fireplace, ceiling to floor windows or 20′ tall ceilings but we’ll try and shove this style right into our teeny two-bedroom apartment above a chinese acupuncturist. Living the dream, I know.

This image is from a photo set on flickr of “Interiors from Armstrong.” It simply says “1950s living room with Calder-like mobile.” So that is to say – the mobile looks like a mobile made by the guy who invented mobiles.

Kagan coffee table – keep an eye out on craigslist! This style is always popping up for under $300.00. $10.00 Ikea vase, Calder mobile, and $480.00 grey tapered-leg repro couch from Urban Outfitters. Get it, girl.

Around Town: Alexander Girard at Urban Outfitters

2 Sep

I forgot about these rad pillows and duvets until now, but while I was out looking for “pretty lady things” to wear to Rose’s wedding, I saw these Alexander Girard designs. Holy pillow-oly.

Girard is an american-born textiles designer who worked for Henry Miller and the Eames brothers. He has also inspired some fantastic fonts!

So head on over to the Arden mall and throw down $38.00 and gets you some.
